Atlanta is now recognized as one of the world’s capitals of hip-hop. Yet the history of this culture is part of a much broader continuum of Afro-diasporic dances that have crossed the Atlantic for centuries.

Through a conversation between Jazz dance and movement educator Dorothée Rechenberg, Atlanta-based hip-hop Historian and Dancer Nicholas Sapp, and drummer and Villa Albertine Artist-In-Residence, Blanche Lafuente, this program explores how bodies tell history, create social connections, and contribute to individual and collective well-being.

The event will combine historical storytelling, dance demonstrations, musical improvisation, and an interactive movement experience for participants.
